Guide to Tunisian citizens applying Vietnam visa
The Tunisia nation, a country in North Africa, is not included in the visa exemption list; therefore, all the Tunisia passport holders need to apply visa to Vietnam for either tourism or business purposes. Normally, it takes 7 working days to complete a visa for Tunisia passport holders however in the rush situations the visa can be arranged within 1 – 2 working days.

How to apply for Vietnam visa for the Tunisian citizens?
At present, there are 3 ways for the Tunisian citizens getting a visa for Vietnam: i) applying for Vietnam e-visa ii) applying for Vietnam visa on arrival or iii) applying for Vietnam visa at the nearest Vietnam Embassy.
1. Apply for Vietnam e-visa
This is new visa system which has just official launched in February 2017. In order to apply for e-visa for Vietnam, the Tunisian citizens will submit a file of passport copy, recently taken photo and pay full non-refundable visa fee.
When applying for e-visa for Vietnam, please note that:
- The payments for Vietnam e-visa applications are non-refundable;
- The applicants should check the information on e-visa against the passport carefully to make sure there is no mistake;
- It normally takes 3 – 5 working days to complete an e-visa, but sometimes it may take longer if your visa application needs to be further verified by the Vietnam Immigration Department. You are strongly recommended to buy a flight ticket when you already received your e-visa;
- The applicants can only apply for e-visa from outside of Vietnam. If you would like to stay longer in Vietnam when your current visa is about to expire, you’ll need to fly out of the country before applying for a new e-visa;
- During the visa approval process, you may receive the requests to update the photos, amend the visa information to match the passport details or provide an accurate address in Vietnam then you have to correct the visa application and the visa processing time will be counted from the time you finish updating the visa application.
How to apply for a Vietnam e-visa for Tunisian citizens?
Step 1: Fill the visa application form and submit the files of passport data page and portrait photo;
Step 2: Pay the visa fee using your credit cards or PayPal;
Step 3: Receive an e-visa in 5 – 7 working days (normal service) or 1 – 2 working days (rush service) or even 2 hours (emergency service);
Step 4: Print out the e-visa, bring along with your passport to get on the plane and present at the immigration counter to get entry into Vietnam.
2. Apply for Vietnam visa on arrival
The Tunisia passport holders can apply Vietnam visa on arrival from anywhere outside of Vietnam. The Vietnam visa will be picked up at the Vietnamese airports after showing the printed visa approval letter and paying the stamping fee.
The approval letter will be sent to your email within 7 working days (normal service).
At present, visa on arrival is a good way to get a Vietnam visa, however it is available for those traveling Vietnam by air only.
| UPDATE The Vietnam visa on arrival has been restored after the Vietnamese government re-opened the borders for the tourists on March 15, 2022 after a two-year border closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now the foreigners can get a Vietnam visa on arrival if they satisfy the following requirements: - The foreigners must have a visa approval letter arranged by a legitimate Vietnamese visa agency who is working with the Vietnam Immigration Department on behalf of the customers before their departure; - The foreigners must have a passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival and blank pages for visa stamp; - The foreigners will travel Vietnam by airplane via the international airports. If you travel Vietnam via land border gates or sea port you should apply for a Vietnam e-visa instead; - The visa on arrival is an altenative to the e-visa in case you need to enter Vietnam urgently but your e-visa application is pending or needs to amend at the last minutes, when you are about to board the plane to Vietnam. |

3. Apply visa at the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulates
Those who want to get a Vietnam visa beforehand or who travel Vietnam by land or sea, can go to the Vietnamese Embassy to apply for visa directly. However, at present the Vietnamese Government hasn’t established the representative office in Tunisia yet, thus all the Tunisian citizens and the foreigners living in the country may visit the nearest Vietnam Embassy in Greece or Italy in person to apply for Vietnam visa instead.
