If you overstayed 1-3 days, you will be instructed to pay the fee and get exit visa at the airport. However, the process at the airport is annoying, arbitrary with vague direction. You should have your visa extended to cover your overstay before you leave the country.

Many United States visitors traveled Vietnam with 1 year multiple entry tourist visa however they don’t know that they can not stay in Vietnam straight 12 months but they need to fly out every 3 month for visa run. Things to do if you lost your passport or visa

  1. You should immediately contact the nearest police station to report your visa and passport lost. They will give you a form to fill in and certify your declaration. It is required document to issue an exit visa later.
  2. If you lost your passport and visa, you must contact your country’s embassy in Vietnam to issue new passport. Your embassy also provide a diplomatic note to send to the relevant Vietnamese organizations.
  3. If you have a copy of your visa, visa approval letter or passport please provide us.
  4. If you have onward air tickets, please print it out and provide us
  5. You contact your hotel to provide the Registration card of stay
